Today is my last day in Mexico (for now). It has been quite the transition landing back in the day-to-day after the incredible retreat I just led with my dear friend Karen DeTemple. Tomorrow will be a departure full of gratitude and grief because life works in a fascinating dualistic way.
The gratitude is for each moment I had the chance to experience here, which is always deeply transformational in Mexico. Gratitude for the new friends and family I made during this retreat. Gratitude for the success I had the chance to create with my co-lead Karen and new retreat experiences ahead of us! Gratitude for new opportunities that have opened up for Say Yes to Your YES here in Mexico. Gratitude for the love that Mexico floods me with each time I come. Gratitude for still being here on this earth and having the opportunity to enjoy this human experience for a little while longer. Just SO much gratitude.
The grief! Oh the grief. On this trip, I realized that grief is simply a part of life. We often think of grief in relation to death but it’s present in so many other moments of our lives. Right now, the grief is for leaving Mexico, one of the big loves of my life. Grief for leaving the healing energy at Lunita Jungle Experience where we hosted our retreat and felt so held, loved and supported by their land and their team (Lorenza and Nico, we love you already like family). Grief for saying goodbye to our retreat participants who we had the opportunity to know on such deep levels. Who we laughed with, cried with, healed with, learned with. Grief for saying goodbye to all the animals who brought us joy and love during this trip (Lolita, Shiva, Sol, Luna, Cielo, Stella).

But here is the thing. Without grief, there is no gratitude. Without grief, there is no awareness of what we love and cherish the most. Grief is necessary to experience life on deep levels. To help us remember what we want to Say YES to!
Today I’m off to spend the day by the ocean with the mommies, my mom and aunt who always join me in Mexico, which is another part of my Mexico experience that I am so grateful for. I will let Mother Ocean take care of me today before I head back to Canada tomorrow to embark on a new chapter filled with opportunities!
Today think about what you are grateful for and grieving right now? Witness the magic in how they are working together for you.
🤍 Maybe you’re grieving the loss of someone or a pet and can sit in gratitude for what they brought into your life.
🤍 Maybe you’re grieving an old version of yourself that you need to let go of so that you can step into your next chapter. You can sit in gratitude for how far that old you has brought you.
🤍 Maybe you’re grieving change in a relationship and can sit in gratitude for everything you learned with that person and how they helped you become who you are today.
If you’re not willing to feel the grief, it will be hard to feel the gratitude and you will land in resentment. They work together on purpose 🙏🏼
Mucho amor de Mexico xo
Pssst - My book Say Yes to Your YES is spreading its wings in Mexico. Below is a photo of me doing some book signings literally in the streets of Mexico AND the book will be released in Spanish this year thanks to the incredible support of my amazing Spanish teacher and founder of Mabo Language School, Santiago Corvaia. The first stop for the Spanish book launch will be Puerto Morelos, Mexico! Stay tuned…
